Complaints & Reporting

Last updated: June 2026

We want Companimal to be safe and honest. If something is wrong — a listing that breaks the rules, a user behaving badly, or a decision of ours you think is mistaken — here is how to tell us, and what happens next.

Report a listing or user

  • Use the report button on any listing or conversation — it is the quickest route and gives us the context automatically.
  • Or email support@companimal.co.uk with a link to the listing or profile and a short description of the problem.
  • If you believe an animal is in immediate danger, contact the RSPCA (England & Wales) on 0300 1234 999, the SSPCA in Scotland, or the USPCA in Northern Ireland. If a crime is in progress, contact the police.

What we do with a report

  • We review reports of unlawful or rule-breaking content and aim to act on them quickly.
  • Where content is illegal or breaks our Listing Rules, we remove or restrict it and may suspend or ban the account responsible.
  • We will not tell you the details of any action taken against another user, but you can expect us to take every report seriously.

Appeal a decision about your account or content

If we have removed your listing, restricted your content, or suspended or banned your account and you think we got it wrong:

  • Email support@companimal.co.uk with "Appeal" in the subject line, telling us what happened and why you think the decision should be changed.
  • A different member of our team will review it where possible, and we will explain the outcome.

Privacy and data requests

For anything about your personal data — access, correction, deletion, or a privacy complaint — see our Privacy Policy or email privacy@companimal.co.uk.

If you are still not satisfied

  • For a data protection concern, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
  • For concerns about online safety and harmful content, the UK regulator is Ofcom — ofcom.org.uk.
  • For a consumer issue about a paid service we provided to you, you can contact Citizens Advice consumer service for guidance.
